In January-February of 2017, the foreign trade deficit in goods in Ukraine lowered to 423.2 mln USD, against the deficit at 756.1 mln USD in the same period last year, reported the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In particular, in January-February period the exports of commodities from Ukraine totaled 6.268 bln USD, up 32.7% compared with the same period in 2016. The import volumes of goods to Ukraine totaled 6.691 bln USD, up 22.1%.

The export-import coverage ratio reached 0.94 (in January-February of 2016 – 0.86). Ukraine provided foreign trade operations with partners from 198 countries.

In the reporting period, the volume of Ukrainian commodities exports to the EU increased by 16.2% - to 2.437 bln USD, and formed 38.9% in the general export structure. The imports of EU commodities increased by 13.4% - to 2.79 bln USD, and formed 41.7% in the general import structure.

The exports to Russia increased by 54.4%, to 576.6 mln USD, and the imports from Russia - up 78.8%, to 1.016 bln USD.
