According to the statistics figures, in the first half of 2016/17 MY the geography of foreign supply of Ukrainian soybean oil drastically changed compared with last season. The situation developed due to the fact that in the first half of the current MY China reduced the imports of soybean oil from Ukraine to 6.8 thsd tonnes, against 44.9 thsd tonnes in the same period of the season-2015/16. The country re-oriented towards purchases of the product from South American countries.
As a result, Ukrainian companies-exporters had to change the sales geography of the product. So, in September-February of 2016/17 MY Ukraine supplied 32.1 thsd tonnes of soybean oil to the EU countries (against 27.2 thsd tonnes in the same period last season), including Poland - 29.2 thsd tonnes (23.4 thsd tonnes). Also, the supplies to India grew to 22.5 thsd tonnes, against 66 tonnes last season. In addition, the Middle Eastern countries significantly increased demand for Ukrainian soybean oil, and purchased 10.8 thsd tonnes of the product in the reporting period (218 tonnes last season).
In September-February of 2016/17 MY, the companies LLC Katerynopilsky Elevator, Novoorschyske sugar plant, Globino soybean processing plant, Pology Oil Extraction Plant and PJSC Myronivsky Plant for Manufacturing Groats and Feeds, became the main exporters of soybean oil from Ukraine.
