In 2016, the supplies of grain cargoes on foreign markets through Mariupol Sea Commercial Port significantly increased compared with 2013 indicators, declared the Head of expert department at the Center for transport strategies, Andrey Shkliar on June 15 within frames of the II Mariupol Agrarian Forum.

In particular, the exports of Ukrainian grains on the African market through the Mariupol port increased in six times, to 423 thsd tonnes, to the EU-28 - up 37 times, to 152 thsd tonnes, and to the Middle East - up 7 times, to 147 thsd tonnes.

In the current season, both the seaport and Ukraine at large significantly increased the transshipment volumes of agricultural products. At the same time, the transshipment rates in the Azov region almost doubled, while the figures in the country - up 1.5 times, which indicates the high rates of development of the Azov region, added the expert.
