Russia: as of June 1, grain stocks totaled over 18.5 mln tonnes – Rosstat

As of June 1, 2017, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 18.515 mln tonnes, an increase of 4.421 mln tonnes (or up 31.4%) compared with the figures on the same date in 2016, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on June 20.

At the same time, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations grew by 43.7%, or 2.466 mln tonnes, compared with June 1, 2016 – to 8.111 mln tonnes. The harvesting and processing organizations increased the rate by 23.1%, or 1.955 mln tonnes - to 10.404 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in the harvesting and processing organizations — 7.704 mln tonnes, up 22.3% compared with the same period last year, including 5.796 mln tonnes of milling wheat (up 16.5%).

Rye stocks totaled 356 thsd tonnes, up 18.5% compared with the indicator as of June 1, 2016, including 322 thsd tonnes of milling rye (up 15.3%).

Also, barley stocks increased to 947 thsd tonnes (up 24%), corn - 1.089 mln tonnes (up 31%), buckwheat - 54 thsd tonnes (up 54.3%), oats – 99 thsd tonnes (up 30.5%), and millet - 30 thsd tonnes (up 2.5 times).

At the same time, rice stocks reduced to the level of 36 thsd tonnes (down 49.6%).
