Russia almost completely solved the issue of securing the domestic market with food products, and started gradually moving the focus from import substitution towards the exports of agricultural products, declared the State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Sergey Levin on June 21.

According to the Deputy Minister, in 2016 the exports of domestic agricultural products continued increasing, and reached 17 bln USD, up 4.3% compared with the previous year. At the same time, Russia reached the positive dynamics at the expense of enlargement of foreign supplies of grains (up 10%) and vegetable oils (up 17%).

The market faced some diversification of the supply of domestic products. The exports of Russian goods to China almost reached the level of supplies to the traditional importer, Turkey. Kazakhstan, South Korea and Egypt are the other large-scale importers on the market, added S.Levin.

Also, the Deputy Minister reminded that since January 1, 2017, the Government launched the priority project "Exports of agro-industrial products", worked out by the Ministry of Agriculture to support the exports of Russian food products. The project focuses on increasing of the export volumes of agricultural products to 19 bln USD in 2018, and to 21.4 bln USD in 2020.
