Two US companies demonstrated their high interest in development of the river shipping industry in Ukraine, declared the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Volodymyr Omelyan on June 26 following the results of his visit to the USA.
According to him, the mission to Washington was quite successful. The parties provided over dozen meetings with members of the Congress, negotiations with the US Departments of Transportation, Commerce, Treasury, etc. and several US private. In particular, such investors as General Electric, Greenbrier International are ready for large-scale investments in the Ukrainian railway sector in the current autumn. At least, two US companies are ready to develop the river shipping industry in Ukraine and build new barges.
As a reminder, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) plan to invest 50-70 mln EUR in development of the Dnieper river as a transport corridor.
