According to APK-Inform figures, in July-May of 2016/17 MY Kazakhstan supplied 3.38 mln tonnes of wheat on foreign markets. Traditionally, near-abroad countries became the major importers: Uzbekistan (47% of shipped grains), Tajikistan (28%), and Afghanistan (8%). In the reporting period, the supplies of wheat on the markets of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan increased by 14% and 10% compared with the similar period in 2015/16 MY, respectively.

In July-May of 2016/17 MY, the exports of wheat to China totaled 252.6 thsd tonnes, which almost met the previous season level. The shipments to Tunis exceeded the foreign supplies for all 2015/16 MY in 3.6 times (18.9 thsd tonnes).

Kazakhstan significantly reduced the exports of wheat to the EU countries. In the reporting period, the EU countries imported 227 thsd tonnes of the Kazakh grain, down 45% compared with the same period in the previous season.
