According to preliminary figures, agricultural households of all categories in Russia planted spring grain crops and pulses for the harvest-2017 throughout the areas of 47.9 mln ha, an increase of 1.4% compared with the previous year, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on July 20.
According to the announcement, the planted areas under sunflower seed totaled 7.9 mln ha (up 5.3%), sugar beet – 1.2 mln ha (up 7.9%).
The major share of planted areas under the reporting crops is concentrated at agricultural organizations: grains and pulses - 66.6% of the general planted areas, sunflower seed - 65.1%, and sugar beet - 88%.
Also, in 2017 the share of such planted areas at peasant (farmer) households totaled: grains and pulses - 32.5%, sunflower seed - 34.5%, and sugar beet - 11.8%.
