As of August 1, 2017, the general production of spring grains and pulses in Russian agricultural organizations reached 28.6 mln tonnes in bunker weight, a decrease of 15.9% compared with the same date last year (34 mln tonnes), reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on August 15.

According to the announcement, agrarians harvested grains throughout the areas of 6.4 mln ha, or 21.7% of the planned areas, against 8.8 mln ha on August 1, 2016. The average yield totaled 4.66 t/ha, as opposed to 4.21 t/ha on the same date last year.

In particular, wheat production formed 24.4 mln tonnes of the reporting volumes, against 27.8 mln tonnes on August 1, 2016. The average yield totaled 4.66 t/ha, against 4.12 t/ha, Rosstat specified.

Also, as of the beginning of August agrarians of the Central, Southern, North Caucasian Federal Districts continued actively realizing the mass harvesting works of grains and pulses. But regions of the Volga, Northwestern, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts just started the harvesting works.
