In the first half year, Ukraine increased agricultural exports - Ministry of Agrarian Policy
In the first half of 2017, the exports of agricultural commodities from Ukraine totaled 8.7 bln USD, an increase of 1.9 bln USD compared with the same period last year, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on August 15.
It is noted that Ukraine increased the exports of all categories of agricultural products. In particular, the supplies of live animals and animal products on foreign markets totaled 492.5 mln USD (up 55% compared with the first half of 2016); plant growing products - 4.3 bln USD (up 24.5%), including grain crops - 3.3 bln USD (up 22.7%); fats and oils - 2.5 bln USD (up 27%); and food preparations - 1.4 bln USD (up 33.6%).
In addition, in the reporting period Ukraine imported agricultural products at 1.97 bln USD, up 21 mln USD compared with the same period last year.
The imports of live animals and animal products to the country totaled 311.7 mln USD (up 1.3%); plant growing products - 742.1 mln USD (down 0.7%), including grain crops - 113.2 mln USD (down 2.5%); fats and oils - 119.8 mln USD (up 6.6%); food preparations - 798.1 mln USD (up 2%).
In the first half of 2017, Ukraine formed a positive balance of foreign trade with agricultural products at 6.7 bln USD, and the share of agriculture exports in the general structure of Ukrainian export reached 42.1%, explained the Ministry officials.
