Russia: as of August 1, grain stocks totaled over 31.8 mln tonnes – Rosstat

As of August 1, 2017, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural, harvesting and processing organizations of the Russian Federation totaled 31.855 mln tonnes, an increase of 213 thsd tonnes (or up 0.7%) compared with the figures on the same date in 2016, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

At the same time, the carry-over stocks of grains in agricultural organizations lowered by 7.9%, or down 1.664 mln tonnes, compared with August 1, 2016 – to 19.313 mln tonnes. Harvesting and processing organizations increased the rate by 13.1%, or 1.451 mln tonnes - to 12.542 mln tonnes.

In particular, wheat formed the major share of the carry-over stocks in harvesting and processing organizations — 10.136 mln tonnes, up 11.3% compared with the same period last year, including 7.417 mln tonnes of milling wheat (up 13.4%).

Also, barley stocks increased to 1.137 mln tonnes (up 15.1%), corn - 702 thsd tonnes (up 54.8%), buckwheat - 42 thsd tonnes (up 2.1 times), oats - 64 thsd tonnes (up 30%), and millet - 24 thsd tonnes (up 3 times).

At the same time, rye stocks totaled 329 thsd tonnes, down 12% compared with the indicator as of August 1, 2016, including 310 thsd tonnes of milling rye (down 9.7%). Also, rice stocks reduced by 54.8%, to 19 thsd tonnes.
