Moldova: in the first quarter of 2017, the Giurgiulești port shipped almost 90 thsd tonnes of grains

In the first quarter of 2017, the exports of grain crops from the Giurgiulești International Free Port (GIFP) totaled 88.7 thsd tonnes, a decrease of 37.1% compared with the same period last year, reported the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Moldova on August 15.

Also, as of April 1 the port still stocked 31.1 thsd tonnes of grains to be shipped.

In addition, in the reporting period the port exported 15.6 thsd tonnes of vegetable oils.

Generally, in the first quarter of 2017 the port Giurgiulești shipped 184.4 thsd tonnes of cargoes, up 1.5 times compared with the same period in 2016.

The summed investments in the port exceeded 68.5 mln USD, including 100 thsd USD in January-March period. The general investor and operator of the port Danube Logistics provided the main share of investments - 50 mln USD, as well as Trans Cargo Terminal, which constructed and used the grain terminal - 12.5 mln USD.
