As of October 1, 2017, the general production of spring grains and pulses in all types of Russian agricultural households reached 124.9 mln tonnes in bunker weight, an increase of 12.8% compared with the same date last year, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
According to the announcement, as of the beginning of October agricultural organizations, which concentrated 66.5% of the areas under grains and pulses (without corn), already realized the harvesting campaign works throughout 89% of the planted areas (in 2016 - 93.1%). The production volumes reached 65.4 mln tonnes of grains (62.9 mln tonnes), with the average yield at 3.62 t/ha (2.94 t/ha).
In particular, wheat production in agricultural organizations formed 59.1 mln tonnes of the reporting volumes, against 52.4 mln tonnes on October 1, 2016. The average yield totaled 3.54 t/ha, against 2.97 t/ha, Rosstat specified.
As of the beginning of the reporting month, agrarians harvested corn for grain throughout 621 thsd ha (29.6% of the forecast), and produced 3 mln tonnes of the grain, with the average yield at 4.8 t/ha. Agrarians harvested 2.8 mln tonnes of sunflower seed throughout 1.5 mln ha (28.7%), with the average yield at 1.96 t/ha.
Taking into account the summer losses of some crop areas and its usage for feeding purposes, as the beginning of October agrarians still have to harvest crops throughout nearly 9% of the planted areas under grains and pulses (without corn).
