Russia may lose the traditional selling markets of wheat, due to influence of the customs duties on grain exports, declared analysts of the Eurasian Economic Commission on April 30.

According to Andrey Slepnev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the EEC, the countries-competitors, for example Ukraine, can occupy the trade directions.

Also, the Commission believes that overstocking of storehouses will become another negative consequence of the customs duties action, which will contribute to significant reduction of the grain qualitative indices.

The Commission pointed out that limitations on the supply of Russian wheat led to significant increasing of barley exports from Russia, so the export potential of the grain may be outspent in the nearest future.

In addition, due to the increased export demand, the domestic prices for barley significantly increased to 7.5-8 thsd RUR/t in the beginning of April, against 6-6.5 thsd RUR/t in January 2015, said A.Slepnev.
