Russia: Crimea produces 2 mln tonnes of grains per year - Minister of Agriculture
On March 26 Nikolai Fedorov, Minister of Agriculture of Russia, declared that accession of the Crimea to the Russian Federation will allow increasing the annual harvest of grains in the country by nearly 2 mln tonnes.
It should be noted that according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, during 4 recent years the grain harvest in the Crimea reached the announced indicator in 2011 only, when the region produced nearly 1.9 mln tonnes of grains. At the same time, in 2010 grain production in the region totaled 1.4 mln tonnes, in 2012 - 0.9 mln tonnes, in 2013 - 0.8 mln tonnes.
