Kazakhstan and Belarus not to increase duties on Ukrainian commodities imports
On June 30, 2014 within the meeting of Eurasian Economic Commission, Belarus and Kazakhstan negatived the Russian proposal to accept general resolution on new regime for Ukrainian commodities.
On June 27, 2014 Ukraine signed the economical part of the Association Agreement with the EU. Thus, within the Free Trade Zone, the EU to introduce zero import duties for Ukraine. The government of Russia declared if Ukraine enters the EU free trade zone, Russia will have to protect its domestic market from European duty-free commodity flow through Ukraine. Ukraine is the CIS Free Trade Zone member as well. Thus, Russia, according to the rules of the organization and due to the Customs Union partners support absence, is now at liberty to act on a unilateral basis.
The representative of the Belarus Government confirmed, that the country refused to support the resolution. According to the Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus, Sergei Rumas, to date it is difficult to estimate the danger for the CU economics, thus there is no necessity to make decisions at an early date.
