Maize – the leader of Ukrainian grain exports




During recent five years, the volume of grain exports from Ukraine increased by 79%, at the same time, maize formed the main contribution to increasing of the indicator.

In particular, only in the period of July 2011 to June 2012 Ukraine supplied 13.7 mln tonnes of the grain on foreign markets, up 1.7 times compared to the index of 2010/11 MY (5.1 mln tonnes), and up 1.5 times - exports of maize in 2008/09 MY (5.3 mln tonnes).

At the same time, the main volume of the Ukrainian grain shipments was delivered to the Middle East countries - the share of the Middle Eastern countries in the structure of the general exports of Ukrainian maize totals nearly 51-54%.
