APK-Inform Agency forecasts wheat production in Russia at 52.1 mln tonnes

According to the updated forecast of APK-Inform Agency, in the current year the general production of wheat in Russia may reach 52.1 mln tonnes, up 38% compared with the previous year index.

According to the Agency analysts, the increase of wheat harvest in the current year is caused by low rates of losses of winter wheat areas (nearly 8%), which yield almost doubles the same index of spring varieties, as well as the expected general growth of the average yield to 2.26 t/ha, against 1.77 t/ha in 2012.

When the specified level of wheat production is achieved, the total supply of the grain in Russia in 2013/14 MY may reach 54.8 mln tonnes, up 20% compared with the current season. As a result, the export potential of Russian wheat in the future MY may rise to 15 mln tonnes, against 10.8 mln tonnes expected in the season-2012/13.
