According to analysts of APK-Inform Agency, the volume of sunflower seed production in Russia in 2012/13 MY (September-August) totaled 7.6 mln tonnes, which is much lower compared with both the previous estimations of the Agency (down 11%) and the previous season results (9.2 mln tonnes).
The volume of sunflower seed processing at oil in 2012/13 MY is estimated by experts of the Agency at the level of 7.2 mln tonnes, down 16% compared with last season. Reduction of the reporting estimations was made on the basis of lowering of export volumes of the oilseed by-products from the country.
In August 2013, Russia processed 317 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed. Traditionally, in the first month of the season there is expected to increase processing volumes of the oilseed, APK-Inform analysts said.
