To date the cost of maize production in Russia varies within a fairly wide range. According to the polling of agricultural producers of four largest grain producing regions in the Russian Federation – the Southern, Central, North Caucasian and Volga Federal Districts – in 2014 most agrarians estimated their production costs for maize cultivation within the range of 8000-9500 RUR/ha (31% of the respondents), another 28% of the respondents specified the index within 6500-8000 RUR/ha.
It should be noted that in 2014 the share of companies which maize production costs exceeded the level of 9500 RUR/ha significantly increased - from 20% in 2013, to 26% in 2014. At the same time, the share of companies with the costs of less than 6500 RUR/ha almost halved - from 30% in 2013, to 15% in the current year.
