On January 15, 2015, the press-conference "Grain market of Ukraine: results of the first half of 2014/15 MY. Ukrainian-American Agrarian Congress in Washington" took place in Kiev. The press-conference was attended by Vladimir Klimenko, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, Rodion Rybchinskiy, Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency, Andrei Zablotskiy, Senior lawyer of the law firm Volkov & Partners.

During the press-conference there were summarized the first half of the grain season-2014/15, and developed the prospects for development of the grain market in the second half of 2014/15 MY. Also, the conference organizers provided detailed information on the Ukrainian-American Agrarian Congress, to be held in Washington on March 23-26, 2015. The conference organizers announced the results of working meetings of the Ukrainian working group with the US public, private and non-governmental organizations interested in development of the agricultural dialogue between Ukraine and the USA.

During his speech R.Rybchinskiy noted that in 2014/15 MY the export potential of the grain market of Ukraine is estimated at 32.9 mln tonnes, an increase of 2.9% compared with 2013/14 MY (32.15 mln tonnes). In particular, the exports of wheat will total 10.8 mln tonnes (up 16.4% compared with the previous season), barley - 3.65 mln tonnes (up 47.8%), and maize - 18 mln tonnes (down 8.8%).

In turn, V.Klimenko said that the volume of grain exports will become the record one during the whole period of Ukraine's independence. But according to him, if Ukraine continues increasing grain production volumes, particularly maize, it will lead to significant reduction of grain prices on the world market, due to increasing of yield indices. Therefore, Ukraine needs to realize deep processing of maize, in particular for the production of bioethanol.

According to the President of UGA, development of the bioethanol industry is one of the most important programs, to be realized in Ukraine.

Generally, V.Klimenko stressed the importance of sharing the international experience for development of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine. In particular, it is required to learn the US experience for the further development of the industry. Therefore, there is prepared the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the agro-industrial complex for 15 years, which signing is planned within the Ukrainian-American Agrarian Congress (March 23-26, 2015).

In turn, A.Zablotskiy, who took part in development of the reporting draft agreement, noted that the document contains some articles on the exchange of practical experience in the production of bioethanol, seeds, exchange trading with agricultural products.

In addition, the agreement provides realization of the joint US-Ukrainian projects in the field of agriculture, and creation of the committee which will determine development of the agricultural relations between Ukraine and the USA.

Such agreement will provide a very strong stimulus to work in Ukraine for foreign companies. Also, it will give an opportunity to attract advanced technologies in different spheres, including the livestock in dustry, grain market and agricultural production, added A.Zablotskiy.
