In July-October of 2019/20 MY, Ukraine exported almost 3.6 mln tonnes of barley that has already exceeded total result of the previous season (3.5 mln tonnes). Moreover, Ukraine can additionally ship nearly 1.5 mln tonnes of barley until the end of the season, independent expert of grain and oilseed market Oleg Levchenko said to APK-Inform Agency.
“I expect Ukraine to export additionally nearly 1.5 mln tonnes of barley, and the lion share to be consumed by Saudi Arabia via its tenders”, he mentioned..
Also, he pointed out generally high export activity of Ukraine with export rates significantly exceeding the last year level.
“Wheat is the brightest example. In July-October of 2018/19 MY, Ukraine exported 7.69 mln tonnes of wheat, and the whole year volume reached 15.1 mln tonnes. For 4 months of the current season, Ukraine already exported 12 mln tonnes of wheat, much higher than last year. Ukraine benefited from moderate activity of Russian traders. I estimate the general wheat exports from Ukraine in 2019/20 MY at 19.5-20 mln tonnes. Moreover, I expect wheat flour exports to grow this season,” O.Levchenko added.
