Ukraine: in the second week of January, the seaports slightly increased grain shipment volumes




According to the weekly monitoring reports by APK-Inform Agency, in the period of January 11-17, 2020, the seaports of Ukraine slightly increased the export volumes of major grain crops. Thus, in the reporting period the seaports shipped for exports 1.13 mln tonnes of grains, up 8% compared with the previous week volumes (1.05 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

In particular, in the reporting period the shipments of wheat increased by 10% — to 255 thsd tonnes, as opposed to 233 thsd tonnes in the previous week. Corn exports grew by 11% compared with the previous week level — to 866 thsd tonnes, while the supplies of barley reduced more than 3 times — to 11 thsd tonnes.

In the reporting week, Egypt (328 thsd tonnes), the Netherlands (153 thsd tonnes) and Spain (85 thsd tonnes) were the TOP-3 of export destinations for Ukrainian grain supplies.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the new current marketing season (July 1), Sea Commercial Port of Mykolaiv (11.21 mln tonnes) still remained the leader in the exports of major grain crops. Sea Commercial Port of Chornomorsk (7.15 mln tonnes) and Sea Commercial Port of Pivdennyj (6.34 mln tonnes) took the second and third positions, respectively.
