As of April 26, Russia completely took up the non-tariff quotas for grain exports from the country at the level of 7 mln tonnes, which was established since April 1, 2020, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, on April 26.

In accordance with the Decree #385 of the Government dd. March 31, 2020, after the exports of all declared grain volumes under the quotas, the authorities will stop the export trading of wheat, meslin, rye, barley and corn to non-member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) until July 1, 2020. The Federal Customs Service stopped issuing new declarations for export purposes.

According to the Ministry, the restrictive measure will allow stabilizing grain prices and meet the country's domestic needs for grains and its by-products. At the same time, the restrictions will not affect the further achievement of the goals of the state programs of the Russian Federation, as well as export indicators of agricultural products in 2020.

According to the Director at the analytical center SovEcon, Andrei Sizov, traders will continue shipping the grain volumes issued for exports within the quota for nearly another month. The actual exports in April will total slightly below 4 mln tonnes. Russia will export the remaining 3 mln tonnes in May and possibly in early June.
