Turkey again is the largest importer of Russian wheat in 2021/22 MY, the Head of the analytical center at Rusagrotrans JSC, Igor Pavensky told.
“Russia has shipped 4.3 mln tonnes of wheat to Turkey this season compared to 4.5 mln tonnes over the same period of the last year”, – he said.
Iran moved to the second place in the rating, as it lowered purchases in December. Iran has imported 4 mln tonnes of Russian wheat so far this season, up 6 times y/y.
“Egypt is on the third place, it cut the imports to 3.4 mln tonnes from 6 mln tonnes the year ago due to the high competition from Romania”, – I. Pavensky added.
Saudi Arabia has bought 840 thsd tonnes of Russian wheat so far in 2021/22 MY (it imported 124 thsd tonnes in the full 2020/21 MY), Azerbaijan bought 0.7 mln tonnes of Russian wheat compared to 1.05 mln tonnes the year ago.
“Russia will export slightly above 22 mln tonnes of wheat in the first half of the season, including supplies to the EAEU, down 17% y/y (26.6 mln tonnes)”, – the expert forecasts.
