For the Ukrainian agricultural sector, 2021 was full of challenges starting with changeable weather and extension of quarantine restrictions to higher prices for food and agricultural products. This year will be difficult as well, because agriculture will continue to face the rising prices for gas, fuel and other raw materials. Moreover, waterlogged fields in the north and traditional droughts in the south and east will add pressure.

However, these risks should be minimized with joint efforts of the entire agricultural community. After all, all market players are stronger when they are together. Therefore, it is necessary to continue the trend towards the unification and development of common rules of the game.

“In particular, this concerns phytosanitary control. The joint efforts of market players registered draft law No. 6400 to the Verkhovna Rada to facilitate the control process while importing seeds. The industry also expects the entry into force or adoption of new important documents at the state level, which will simplify the work of seeds producers, seeds import and export. All this once again emphasizes that the strength of business lies in its association and joint actions”, – notes Siuzanna Grigorenko, Executive Director of the Seed Association of Ukraine (SAU).

S. Grigorenko will speak in more detail about the prospects for the development of the Ukrainian seed segment in her opening speech at the press-breakfast "Trends and prospects of the seed market", which will be held as part of the "Seed Forum 2022" on February 14 in Kiev.
