According to APK-Inform, Ukraine exported 1.1 mln tonnes of barley in July-October 2022/23 MY, down by 76% y/y. About 29% of the reported volumes was shipped via the “grain corridor”.
Romania was the key destination for Ukrainian barley. It bought 35% of the overall volumes or 393.1 thsd tonnes. Spain imported 236.8 thsd tonnes of barley (21%), Turkey – 168.7 thsd tonnes (15%).
APK-Inform estimates the barley production in Ukraine at 5.5 mln tonnes (-42% from 2021). Under the optimistic scenario, Ukraine will export 2.4 mln tonnes of barley in 2022/23 MY (-58% from 2021/22 MY). Under the pessimistic scenario, Ukraine will be able to ship 2 mln tonnes (-65%).
