Realization of the planned investment projects at the Priority Development Areas (PDAs) in the Far Eastern region of Russia will annually provide the production of more than 1 mln tonnes of agricultural products, declared the Deputy Minister for Development of the Russian Far East, Sergei Kachaev on August 2.

New mechanisms of accelerated development for the Far East create quite attractive environment for investments in agriculture. In the medium term, they allow completely closing the deficit of the key types of food products in the Far Eastern region, and significantly reducing the cost of basic foodstuffs, said the Deputy Minister.

According to S.Kachaev, realization of the planned projects for the Far East will increase production of plant growing commodities by 0.5 mln tonnes, meat products – up 250 thsd tonnes, dairy products – up 60 thsd tonnes, forages – up 240 thsd tonnes, as well as produce other food industry commodities: canned meat sausages, soybean oil, poultry meat, etc.

Also, he reminded that 3 Priority Development Areas in the region have agricultural specialization: PDA Mikhailovskaya in Primorsky Krai, PDA Belogorsk in Amur oblast, and PDA Yuzhnaya in Sakhalin oblast. The current level of planned investments in new agricultural capacities total 50 bln RUR.
