In 2020, the planted areas under cottonseed in Azerbaijan will total 105 thsd ha, an increase of 5% compared with the current year, declared the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov.
In 2020, Azerbaijan plans to provide 105 thsd ha of planted areas for cottonseed, and increase the yield figures, he said.
I.Karimov stressed that according to the new subsidy mechanism, since 2020 each farmer will receive 220 AZN for each hectare of cottonseed, and 100 AZN — for each tonne of harvested cottonseed.
In terms of the yield at 3 t/ha, agrarians will receive subsidies at the sum of 520 AZN, which will cover 55% of their expenses, the Minister explained.
As a reminder, in 2019 Azerbaijan harvested 294 thsd tonnes of cottonseed, with the yield of 2.94 t/ha.
