In 2019, the annual demand of the population of Uzbekistan for fat-and-oil products totaled more than 400 thsd tonnes, while the country produces 200 thsd tonnes of the products only, reported the Association of enterprises of fat-and-oil products JSC Uzkimyosanoat.
It was noted that Uzbekistan usually imports the remaining volumes of fat-and-oil products from Russia, to meet the domestic needs.
According to the announcement, despite the sufficient number of production capacities, the raw material base in the country is quite limited. For several recent years, oblasts of the country started expanding the planted areas under oilseeds, to solve the reporting problem. So, in 2019 agrarians planted oilseeds throughout 51 thsd ha, and in 2020 it is planned to increase the figures to 85 thsd ha.
