Romania became largest importer of Ukrainian oilseeds

In January-August 2022, Ukraine exported oilseed crops at the sum of 1.712 bln USD, up by two times compared to the same period of 2021, Deputy Director at the National scientific center “Institute of Agrarian Economics” at NAAS Nikolai Pugachev said.

Sunflower seed export amounted to 1.6 mln tonnes at the sum of 823 mln USD. Rapeseed export totaled 0.9 mln tonnes (415 mln USD), soybean – 0.8 mln tonnes (413 mln USD).

The EU countries imported about ¾ of the overall volume of oilseeds export in January-August 2022.

In the last 5 year, Germany was the main importer of Ukrainian oilseeds. This year, it moved to the second place after Romania. The share of Romania totaled 19.3% (331 mln USD) in the overall export structure.

It is followed by Bulgaria (18%) and Turkey (16.9%).

Smaller volumes were shipped to Poland (12.2%), Hungary (7.9%), Germany (5.9%), Moldova (3.7%), the Netherlands (3.1%).

The common share of these eight countries totaled 87%.
