Growth of the global population significantly influence on the production of grain and oilseed crops as well as animal products, declared Dr. Jan van Eys, GANS Inc., consultant of USSEC within the online conference Soybean and meal market on July 1.
“In the coming decades, the global population could increase by several billions, thus, the consumption of food, including animal products will grow. Therefore, it will require the increase of feed crops”, - the expert pointed out.
Such perspective will promote to use cultivated areas more efficient in the key producing countries. Brazil will be the exception as it extends the planted area under soybean anyway.
“In 2020/21 MY, the global soybean production could reach 360 mln tonnes that leads to soybean meal output at about 290 thsd tonnes or 25% of the overall production of fodders. Soybean meal is one of the main expensive ingredient for fodder production. Thus, we need to develop the efficiency of soybean cultivation and usage as well as the quality of the crop”, - Dr. Jan van Eys summarized.
