According to data received by APK-Inform Agency during realizing of polling of agricultural producers, to date Ukraine faces the situation when many agricultural producers abandon sowing barley in favor of maize.
According to experts, it will become the trend, because maize has the highest profitability among grain crops – nearly 30% (previously - 70%). Profitability of barley is less than 1% (previously 10%), wheat - 10% (previously 26%). Only rapeseed and sunflower production is superior to maize growing in the sphere.
Furthermore, the situation on the world grain market will contribute to the trend development. According to the USDA forecast for the nearest decade, maize, wheat and sorghum are the priority agricultural crops. Barley as the export crop is losing its position.
Market participants will be able to discuss trends in development of the situation on the grain market of Ukraine in the second half of the season-2011/12 during the the second international conference "AgroResurcy – 2012" (February 9, Kiev, exhibition center "KyivExpoPlaza").
