Turkey has significantly increased imports of pulses from Kazakhstan, in particular, chickpeas and lentils, APK-Inform reported with reference to the data of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In particular, in July-January 2022/23 MY Turkey purchased over 75% of the total export of Kazakh chickpeas — 4,9 thsd tonnes. This is 10,6 times higher year-on-year.
Also, the import of lentils increased 4 times — for 7 months of 2022/23 MY Turkey bought 82,8 thsd tonnes of the product from Kazakhstan (compared to 20,8 thsd tonnes y-o-y). It is interesting to note that the deliveries to Turkey accounted for 91% of all the exports of Kazakh lentils during the reporting period.
The pulses market is developing so dynamically that APK-Inform decided to provide an entire session for it at the international conference «Asia Grain Conference» (April 25-26, Almaty).
One of the most interesting speeches will be the report of Hussein Arslan, the President of the Global Pulse Confederation (GPC) "Global trends in the market of pulses, prospects for 2023/24 MY".
