Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation traditionally compete in the supply of sunflower oil to Uzbekistan, and in recent years the presence of Kazakh oil in this market has been steadily increasing.
According to official statistics, from September to June 2022/23 MY, Kazakhstan exported 96`000 tonnes of sunflower oil to Uzbekistan, which is 38% higher than for the entire previous season (70`000 tonnes), and 80% more than in 2020/21 MY.
At the same time, in the current season, the volume of deliveries from Kazakhstan is still 35% behind Russian oil exports to Uzbekistan, which reached 148`000 tons during the reporting period.
At the same time, in the previous season, Kazakh oil dominated the market of Uzbekistan, and the volume of its deliveries reached 70`000 tonnes against 49`000 tonnes imported from Russia.
The active development of the oilseed industry in Kazakhstan contributes to the further increase in the supply of sunflower oil – both to Uzbekistan and to other countries of Central Asia and far abroad.
The changes that await the oilseed market of Central Asia in the new season we will discuss together with market participants and agricultural experts during the third international conference Asia Grains&Oils Conference in Tashkent 2023, which will be held in Uzbekistan on September 14-15.
