In September-January 2021/22 MY, Kazakhstan exported 34.1 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil, down 21% y/y. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan accounted for 98% of the whole volume exported. Their share was 71% over the same period of the last season.
Lower shipments to Uzbekistan were offset by stronger demand from Tajikistan. China decreased import of Kazakh sunflower oil by 97% y/y. Supplies to Afghanistan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan were tiny.
Uzbekistan increased import of refined sunflower oil to 8.8 thsd tonnes in September-January 2021/22 MY, up 26% y/y. The share of refined sunflower oil increased in the overall structure of sunflower oil export from 27% last season to 41%.
The share of packed sunflower oil increased slightly from 41% to 43%, while, in volume terms, the export of packed oil decreased by 12% y/y.
