According to official statistics, Kazakhstan exported only 427 thsd tonnes of barley in 2021/22 MY, down 60% y/y. It is the lowest volumes in 9 years.
Iran imported 194 thsd tonnes of Kazakh barley (-73% y/y), Uzbekistan – 100 thsd tonnes (+67%), China – 84 thsd tonnes (-65%).
APK-Inform forecasts export of Kazakh barley at 600 thsd tonnes in 2022/23 MY (+40% y/y).
“Foreign supplies will strongly depend on demand from the key importers, who can switch to Russian origin as well as logistical situation at the border with China”, – the experts suppose.
