Information about critical situation with corn crop in Ukraine resulted in the fact that farmers purposely mark down corn yield, declared the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, Mykola Gorbachev within the online conference Corn-2020: deal of default?! on November 5.
He supposes that farmers hope for the government to compensate their yield losses or traders to meet them half way and allow not to supply whole volume contracted.
Moreover, he added that the waiting for higher prices may result in price decline on the contrary, as the restriction of corn export based on official data will bring 3-4 mln tonnes of corn to the inner market. These volumes were hidden through yield manipulation of farmers.
