Despite the expected growth of durum wheat production in 2020/21 MY, Kazakhstan could reduce the grain export, declared trader of GrainPartners LLP, Ivan Malygin within the online conference DURUM WHEAT: TRENDY NICHE OF 2020 held by APK-Inform on July 21.

“According to the preliminary estimates, in 2020/21 MY, Kazakhstan will decrease the export of durum wheat to 430 thsd tonnes due to the lower carry-over stocks and import”, - the expert pointed out.

I.Malygin added that the supply of Kazakh durum to Russia could decline to 150 thsd tonnes, while the export to Turkey and Italy could grow to 70 thsd tonnes and 160 thsd tonnes correspondingly.

“In 2019/20 MY, the export peak was achieved in March-May. Last season, the shipments to Europe and Turkey from the small ports of Azov Sea increased at covered 95% of total durum export, while the share of shipments through deep-sea ports of Black Sea declined to 5%. In 2018/19 MY the shares was 35% and 65% correspondingly”, - the expert summarized.
