In 2017, the general grain harvest in Ukraine may reach nearly 64 mln tonnes, which provides the export potential at 42 mln tonnes, reported the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for European Integration, Olga Trofimtseva at the official opening of the second conference "Grain exports from Ukraine" on November 2, in Kyiv, Ukraine.

She noted that to date, the deficit of grain rail cars is one of the main problems in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the Ministry does not have the required tools to quickly solve all existing infrastructural problems in the country. Also, the officials try to work with private businesses.

According to O.Trofimtseva, the phytosanitary issue is the second largest problem. The Deputy Minister appealed to agricultural producers not to save money on high-quality fumigation products, and noted that the phytosanitary issue begins just from fields, but not fumigation.

Also, O.Trofimtseva called the gray market of grains in Ukraine as another major problem. Agricultural producers should leave the shadow market segment. Otherwise, they will lose the state support, she added.
