Soybean production in Ukraine is rapidly growing, and by 2017 the harvested areas under the oilseed in the country are forecasted to reach 2 mln ha, which will increase the general production of soybeans to 4.3 mln tonnes, declared Viktor Timchenko, President of Ukrainian Association of Soybean Producers and Processors, on April 4 during his speech at the international conference "AOCS Oils and Fats World Market Update 2013" in Kiev.
At the same time, he noted that in 2013 the harvested areas under soybeans in Ukraine may reach 1.55 mln ha, and the general production of soybeans is expected to reach 2.95 mln tonnes.
While speaking on the volume of production of domestic soybean meal in 2012, V.Timchenko said that the index increased by 18% compared with the previous year - to 514 thsd tonnes.
Also, there is observed the rise of exports of the product - from 1 thsd tonnes in 2011, to 15 thsd tonnes in 2012, said the expert.
