On October 30, in Kyiv, the agenda of the eighteenth international conference "Fat-and-Oil Industry - 2019" includes the workshop "Black Sea Platts sunflower oil futures: what is it, and how they can be used for price risk management purposes". The leading global experts, such as the Vice President - Eastern Europe/Black Sea Region at INTL FCStone, Matt Ammermann, the Senior commodities derivatives specialist of the Department of Agriculture at EMEA S&P Global Platts, Alexandre Bobylov, and the Executive Director of the agricultural commodities department at CME Group, Jeffry Kuijpers will report about the Platts index, futures design, and hedging sunflower oil price risks using futures.
As a reminder, at the end of July 2019 CME Group, one of the leading financial derivatives markets, announced about launching of trading with Black Sea Sunflower Oil futures since August 2019, on the basis of FOB Black Sea Ukraine.
In particular, the futures contract will be calculated based on the valuation of the cost of sunflower oil FOB Black Sea Ukraine, published by S&P Global Platts, and will be available for trading on the platforms CME Globex and CME ClearPort, subject to the rules and regulations of CBOT. The futures will be quoted in US dollar and cents per tonne, and have the contract size of 25 tonnes. November 2019 will be the first listed month available for trading and clearing at the platform of CME Group. Also, there will be available sunflower oil contracts for the following 11 months (until October 2020).
