In 2020, wheat became the main position of Russian agricultural exports to Mongolia

In January-April of 2020, Russia exported food products to Mongolia at the sum of 88 mln USD, an increase of 53% compared with the same period last year, declared the Federal Centre of export development of the agro-industrial complex under the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

At the same time, it should be noted that if in 2019, chocolate was the main commodity item in the structure of Russian exports to Mongolia, then in the beginning of 2020 wheat came out on the top.

In particular, for the first 4 months of 2020 Russia shipped 83 thsd tonnes of wheat (16 mln USD) to Mongolia, while in the same period last year the grain exports totaled 221 tonnes only. Krasnoyarsk and Altai Krais, as well as the Republic of Khakassia, became the main suppliers of wheat to the country, which share in the general volume of Russian agricultural exports to Mongolia in 2020, already reached 19%. In addition, in March 2020 Novosibirsk oblast resumed the grain exports to Mongolia.

Both in 2019 and the current year, rapeseed took the second position in the export structure — 15%. In January-April, the supplied increased by 37% — to 30 thsd tonnes (13 mln USD), added the Federal Centre experts.

Also, in 2020 the TOP-5 of main export positions to Mongolia included chocolate (7.1% of the general shipments), flour-based food (5.6%), and sunflower oil (4.7%).

In particular, the specialists specified chocolate and sugar confectionery, as well as pasta and poultry meat, among the most perspective positions for increasing of Russian food exports to Mongolia.
