During 5 recent seasons, the level of domestic consumption of grains and pulses decreased by 15%, or down nearly 3% annually, due to reduction of the population of the country, as well as stagnation processes in the livestock sector, declared Andrei Kupchenko, grain market analyst at APK-Inform Agency, during his report within frames of "Grain Processors Forum - 2017".

According to APK-Inform estimations, in 2017/18 MY the volumes of domestic consumption of grains will reach 23.8 mln tonnes, which corresponds to the last season figures (23.7 mln tonnes), but down 6% compared with 2015/16 MY (25.3 mln tonnes).

Also, the expected relative stability in the current season is caused by the high export rates of flour and maintaining of grain processing rates at the same stable level, explained the expert.
