According to APK-Inform estimations, in October-December period of the current MY Ukraine exported more than 725 thsd tonnes of corn to China, an increase of 3.6 times compared with the same period of 2016/17 MY (201 thsd tonnes).

The growth of corn supplies from Ukraine developed in terms of a slight increasing of the import forecast to China in 2017/18 MY, which the USDA recently estimated at 3 mln tonnes, up 21% compared with the imports in 2016/17 MY (2.5 mln tonnes). Thus, for 3 months of the current season Ukraine provided over 24% of the Chinese demand for imported corn. Last season, Ukraine supplied 61% of all batches of corn imported to China. In terms of keeping of the current trend, in 2017/18 MY the general shipments of Ukrainian corn to the country will reach 2 mln tonnes. At the same time, it should be noted that China continues its policy of gradual deliverance from corn stocks in the country, which have a significant pressure on the market.
