The future recovery of the global economy after the recent crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, will not be rapid at all, but it will develop in soft rates, declared the General Director at Maersk Ukraine, Roman Koloyanov, within frames of the online-conference Grain&Maritime Days Online, on May 29.
As of today, in the second quarter the global business is most likely at the bottom of the economic crisis. It is expected that the recovery processes will start in the third quarter of 2020. If there are no problems with re-imposition of the quarantine in various countries, then by the end of 2020 the trend should become positive, and the economy should already recover, the expert forecasted.
R.Koloyanov said that in the first quarter of 2020, when the crisis just began, in the first turn the logistics problems started forming in China. Maersk had to cancel more than 90 sailings, and the deployed capacity reduced by 3.5%, especially in the destinations of China-Europe and China-USA.
In the second quarter of 2020, more than 130 blanked sailings are expected with the continued capacity adoption in the coming quarters, added the speaker.
