The world export of groats have been growing for 3 years, according to the data of the International Trade Center. In 2019, the overall export revenue of CN codes 1103 and 1104 totaled 2.45 bln USD, it exceeded 2.74 bln USD in 2020, up 12%. The global export of groats reached 1.52 bln USD in the first half of 2021. Taking into account the stable export progress, the global groats trade may surpass 3 bln USD in 2021.
In the export structure, the advanced goods like flakes, muesli, rolled grain, etc. (code 1104) account for more than 63% in monetary terms. In the first half of 2021, the trade volumes of these goods increased by 19% compared to the same period of 2020.
Canada is the leading exporter of groats products with the share of the world trade volume exceeding 15%. The country covered 15% of the global export of products of code 1103 and 17% of code 1104 in the second quarter of 2021. A decline of grain crop in Canada, the export in volume terms may decrease in the second half of the year. At the same time, growing food prices may lead to stable or even higher export figure in monetary terms.
