One of the particularities of 2019/20 MY was the appreciation of logistics due to the border closure in many countries amid quarantine restrictions, declared Roman Koloyanov (Maersk Ukraine) within GMD Conference 2020: Summer Edition on August 20.
“Maritime logistics appreciated by default due to constantly growing costs and markets closure. It seemed that the decline of fuel prices after crude oil collapse in March would make logistics cheaper. But it did not happen as expense portion increased on additional vessel calls, demurrage, etc”, - he explained.
The expert added that such supply chains as Just-in-Time and so-called multisources will turn to be popular on the market.
“Buyers will diversify their risks through purchasing from several suppliers. This will change both export geography and logistics structure”, - R.Koloyanov added.
