Taking into account the current trends in the export dynamics of flour and wheat bran from Ukraine, as well as the production rates of flour and floury foods in the beginning of the new season, APK-Inform analysts lowered the forecast of flour production in 2018/19 MY to 2.5 mln tonnes (down 1% compared with 2017/18 MY) and the export potential — to 390 thsd tonnes (down 9%).

In the first month of 2018/19 MY, the production volumes of flour at large-scale enterprises of Ukraine reached 131 thsd tonnes only, down 17% compared with the same month last year. Significant reduction of the shipment rates in the beginning of the season, as well as the losses of the positions of Ukraine on the key markets, especially North Korea, became the main reasons for decreasing of the export potential.

In July 2018, the exports reduced by 49% compared with the figures in the same month of 2017. And in August 2018, the shipment volumes decreased by 65%. Also, it should be noted some strengthening of the global competition rates and supporting of the flour milling segment in the countries which are the key players on the global market.

You can receive more detailed information about the development prospects of the grain and flour markets within frames of the specialized international conference "Grain Processors Forum - 2018" (September 28-29, Odessa).
