Unpreparedness to work with large-scale volumes of grains by the domestic logistics industry became the main limiting factor in the growth of the export potential of grain crops from Ukraine, declared the President at the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA), Mykola Gorbachev during his report at "Grain Processors Forum - 2018" in Odessa on September 28.

Ukraine has a significant potential to increase grain production volumes, and then increase the export figures. Ukraine has the sufficient level of infrastructure, but the logistics need more time to reach the development level of the agricultural market, M.Gorbachev said.

According to him, Ukraine can annually produce nearly 100 mln tonnes of agricultural products and export nearly 70 mln tonnes.

Therefore, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) needs to double the current fleet of grain cars, stressed the President of UGA.

As for the prospects of the sales markets for Ukrainian grains, M.Gorbachev called Asian countries at the first position. So, Ukraine annually exports nearly 2.4 mln tonnes of grains to Turkey. At the same time, it is not the limit, and the countries have to continue the joint work and expand mutual cooperation, said the speaker.
